Just checked out China Taste on a whim as we were on vacation down in Ft. Walton. Didn't feel like cooking or spending a lot and Chinese seemed like a good idea. So, we decided to pop in an grab a quick bite for 4. A small, unassuming looking place with only 5 tables but it was bright and clean on the inside. Put in the to-go order of pork fried rice, pepper steak, kung-pao chicken, and beef and broccoli with a few egg rolls. They get the order ready in a flash which makes me scared because you know that means they're just batching everything. We get it back to the hotel and everything is great! It was all freshly made, they're just insanely quick! It wasn't the best I've ever had, but I'm not expecting Blue Orchid-quality from a high-traffic beach resort town. Just like J.B, they also hooked us up with a free quart of Egg Drop soup; they didn't even ask. The Wrap-Up: FAST, dirt cheap, pretty OK Chinese. With free soup.

Cheap, tasty and fast. There lemon chicken is the best. We go atleast 1-2 times a month and it has always been great.

I concur with D R. We ordered delivery. DO NOT LET ME NEAR THE MENU WHEN I'M HUNGRY!!!!!!!! My point is, Everything there really does rock...and after a couple beers and they deliver....do the math. $40 later I was chowing down in the comfort of my own home (and boxer shorts!) on some of the best Chinese delivery I've ever had. We ordered so much, they even put some FREE THINGS in there for us. Now I know you're thinking $40.00 for delivery....it was a HUGE grocery bag of food. Like I said...don't let me near their menu for a while until I work a couple more hours overtime. THEN let the dialing begin! :)

Very inexpensive and tasty. The food was heaped up and ready for take-out when I arrived 10 minutes after calling in the order. One of the workers asked if I wanted free soup. I said sure, and she gave me a couple quarts worth of Egg Drop soup which was very good. Can't ask for a better experience.

I have had the pepper steak and the beef dinner combos. They were tasty but but not great. The place is always clean and service us great, though.

They get one star for one reason well actually now that I think of it for a couple. For one! If I ask or any of your customers ask for a touch more ginger then give it to them. Don't tell me you gave me this much already. Rude people! Second! If you don't check your food when you get it take out half the time you ll be missing something. They messed up some sushi for my girlfriend and had I not looked we would have got home with not what we paid for. Consistency is what they lack they are very good at making the shrimp tempora role but are not consistent with the rest of their product. Their prices are decent compared to Destin so I often choose this place over Okinawa or any these other high dollar sushi places.

The food was okay, all the meals seemed a bit bland for my taste. This was the first time my husband had sushi and he loved it but I felt there was something lacking. I was definitely comparing to my usual back home and it wasn't even close. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. The best sushi roll we had was the first salmon mango roll. The mango was sweet. We enjoyed it so much we ordered another but the second one wasn't as flavorful, like the mango wasn't ripe yet.

Food is good most of the time, but the service is terrible. I've been multiple times because of the sushi specials, but they have forgotten the sauce I ask for every single time. I've been at least 10 times & they always forget something. We've used the delivery service to Shalimar twice over the phone. They just opened up their online ordering and we ordered sushi. They gave my husband a call to say they don't deliver to our house, which is exactly 5 miles away. When my husband said they've done it before, they got an attitude & said we weren't in their brand new system. Like I said, the food is good, but the staff needs to finish high school & get some real job & people skills.

I love how this place has an all you can eat special for sushi. The down side is that the portions are so off. On my first plate there was so much rice compared to the fish. I was pretty much full after that. I had another plate of shrimp tempura roll and it was such a smaller plate. It was good but just the portions of there food will get you.

Mediocre American Chinese food. Which, isn't bad. The first time I ordered delivery...it took over 2 hours due to an "address miss communication." I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I gave them a second chance to redeem themselves. I ordered at 06:35 pm. It's 07:58 and my order is "on its way." If you feel like eating at this restaurant, order when youre not hungry....around 2 pm, by the time it gets to you, who knows!

Servers aren't very informative. I don't need everything to be explained but if there is something wrong with some of your menus and how some orders are written/pictured incorrectly, I expect to be told. Or at least BE NICE. My friends and I used to come here for AYCE sushi (~$14) and now all of a sudden it's ~$18. (Small portions) "Sweet and Sour Chicken" means fried chicken fingers with super sweet no sour sauce on the side. (also offered for kids' menu, SAME PORTION different plate and different price) When the menu clearly says KOREAN BBQ, ask anyway what it means, because what they told us is that it meant KBBQ SAUCE, not the meat. So if you do decide to visit, make sure you really ask about the food you want to order. Don't get fooled by the menu, or the pictures. Also, don't let the servers just ignore you every time they don't know the answer to your question, because that's what they did to us.

I personally haven't had any complaint here! The food had always been really good! My husband and I always go for the all you can eat. Super good price for so much food !! Definitely recommend trying this place out!

You were prepared for me to change my mind once but betcha were not prepared for this new twist in the China Taste saga. That's right bitches! They went down baby, down to Chinatown (the bad part). So what happened? Let's see, since I wrote that raving review in January, they have completely renovated the restaurant and now it's 10 times the size it was before and looks super fancy and serve sushi unlimited. They kept the fish tank. But I don't want a fancy fucking Chinese takeout place. I want good food at good value with good service, and an occasional packet of soy sauce or plastic spoon, and I want it fast. After the fancy renovation, they jacked up the prices by a lot. So what used to be $5 to $7 are now about $10, after a few MONTHS! Out of control price hikes. And the quality? Well, it went down. The food is unpredictable. For the same dish, sesame beef for instance, it could be good one day and horrible the next. The portions are also smaller, now the "large" does not fill the container and can last barely one meal whereas before I always had enough for leftovers. The service here has always been sort of cold. Few of them speak English and the ones that do never crack a smile even though I have been going there regularly for the past 8 months. I have stopped going there since February and now seek out Tokyo Express to fill the Chinese food void in my life.

East online ordering. Inexpensive for what I got, 2 entrees, soup, egg rolls all for $20 delivered. The kung pao chicken was different, not as spicy as it should have been and lots of veggies but overall tasty. Very quick delivery as well.

I went there for the "all you can eat sushi" I was so disappointed with it . They take their own sweet time with bringing you the sushi. I'm like ok it's probably going to be delicous. No It wasn't .It is like getting the generic brand of sushi . I felt like our waitress was a bit rude not one smile.. just like ok hurry up and order your food . While we was still eating our sushi thinking about should we get some more sushi maybe the next batch will be a bit different she comes out with our check like hurry up and pay .I felt that was rude.. I will never ever go back there again . I feel sorry for that one fish in the fish tank looking all sad and lonely ...like plz someone help me .

Oh man, I came here for the all you can eat Sushi and I left full and satisfied. The sushi was fresh and was severed in big portions. The waiting staff was very helpful and always friendly. Hard to go wrong here.

Love the decor, service, and the prices! House Lo mein was the best I've ever had. Other dishes were better than the other Chinese restaurants around he area. They have ayce sushi available as well

I wish I could give them a better review as I was looking forward to another delivery option in fwb. The delivery service seems efficient and the person answering phones communicates well. However, the food is not good. I ordered from them twice and both ltimes my food was fried and greasy (I wasn't expecting either dish to be fried) just another 'American' Chinese food place, and what I mean by that is everything fried in old grease. :(

Ok. I was hungry and wanted to get Chinese food. So, I drove around and ended here. The place is nice and clean with a fish tank to the right as you enter the door. They were also playing some jazz music which I didn't mind. The waitress greeted me and sat me by the fish tank. I ordered the mango chili chicken with fried rice. The food came quickly and it looked appetizing. However, when I started to eat it, I noticed that there were no mango bits in it. The veggies were mostly onions and little bit of the other veggies. Now for the taste. Well, it tasted as it sounds minus the mango. Add chicken pieces, onions, and other veggies. Then saute them in sweet chili sauce. That's it. To me it wasn't good.

We ate at China Taste this evening. We walked in and told the server we wanted to do "all you can eat sushi for $14". We were seated and ordered 2 rolls each and our drinks. We waited about 15 minutes for our water/soda to arrive and then waited an additional 45 minutes for our first set of sushi rolls. They were tasty. There wasn't much seafood used in the rolls, but for $14 all you can eat, we didn't expect there to be much. After finishing, we ordered another 2 rolls each - and waited an hour - yes, an hour, for the rolls to arrive. This time our rolls tasted bad and we ended up paying the $14 each for the all you can eat and then being charged additionally for each piece of sushi we didn't finish. Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

I visited here and ordered the spicy tuna roll, which tasted fresh and delicious. But then I ordered a chicken and curry dish and the chicken was slimy. Both me and my friend who ordered this dish were sick the next two days. I would not go back to this place for fear they do not have safe food practices.

I always see their food out back sitting on a ledge in the sun. Absolutely disgusting.

Love it here! All you can eat it's very fresh and you get your own roll not a buffet line. Delivery it's awesome! Always there before time is up. Large variety of tools n food! Lion king roll it's the best! And the people are super cool. My only problem n why I gave it 4 stars it's because of that lonely fish they got. No plants or anything but him in the tank. Breaks my heart when he follows me around I feel he wants me to set him free!

I come here most weeks and it is always excellent. The food is absolutely delicious and always comes out quick. The service is friendly and sweet, normally very quick and accurate depending on who it is. Also, the atmosphere is cool and stylish, better than most Chinese joints. Oh, and did I mention it is ridiculously cheap? They have $5 lunch combos and $7 dinner combos that I can never finish (and I can put away some food). So, if you want to enjoy a yummy Chinese meal that tastes like $20 for less than $10, then come here. :)

Three times in a row they gave me wrong order for take out. Food tasted and looked like they threw some leftovers in a to-go box. Used to be my favorite place, when they first Re-opened. Then the prices went up and the food got worst. No more china taste for me.

Little bugs crawled off the tea bags when the waitress brought them to our table! She said it is not a big deal as the bugs only lay their eggs in the cotton wrapped around the tea bags. Yikes!!! However, if I was rating the food, it would be 4 stars, along with the eating area, too.

I am a local sushi lover and decided to take my family to Japan and China Taste for AYCE sushi because my son said that positive changes were made. We first ordered salad and two rolls which were about 7-8 inches long and 1" across and packed with goodies and flavor. We decided to order a couple more and when they came out they were, no exagerations, 3 times the size 12" long and 2.5" across looked them over and the ingredients inside there was a lot less and the amount of rice was unreal the roll was 80% rice. I did notice that when you first arrive they write your table # on the sushi order form and the word NEW to let the chef know to make the normal rolls but when you reorder NEW is not put on the order form and they come out huge with majority being rice. I did notice this at other tables as well. Rice, I assume, is much more cost effective to load you up on. The first rolls were great and would have given 4.5 stars, however with the AYCE scam I gave them 2 stars and wont be back until this practice has changed.

This is one of those places where it's not so bad that you swear you'll never go back but not so good that you ache to go back. The food/service is mediocre at best, but what had me conflicted (waffling between 3-4 rating) was the price. Given that a lot of restaurants in this area (most?) charge top dollar for average food, China Taste stands out in that its prices are actually pretty reasonable. I've had the Szechuan, Kung Pao, & Garlic dishes. Each were just "ok", i.e. nothing special. Given the price, it's not surprising that the dishes all contain more veggies than meat. However in the Szechuan meal's case, it seemed like they threw in an entire onion. One can only take so much. I did like the hot & sour soup. As far as service goes...don't expect service with a smile. They are all business - check you in, check you out. But that's okay, I'm not going there for a conversation or a relationship. If I could give this place a 3.5 I would. But when I was trying to figure out if I should round up or down (price = round up) the average food quality and service made me pull it down. Oh, not their fault but something people should be aware of, the parking there is horrible and it's a pain in the butt to get out of the Publix shopping center if you're trying to head south and/or back to Okaloosa. If you can order delivery, do it.

We only eat here when we want Chinese. We order in and it's always hot and delicious. We ate at the restaurant and couldn't believe how much more delicious it was fresh. Love this place!

So, what do you expect for $8 rolls or the $14 all you can eat sushi deal? Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

You really have to be an idiot to complain about sushi at a Chinese restaurant. Go to a Japanese restaurant for SUSHI . I weep for the future.

I drove by the sign and thought I would give it a try because they were offering all you could eat sushi. It tasted pretty good it wasn't that bad. However, there was sauce drizzled on top of my sushi which I absolutely hate. I had no idea that sauce was going to be on top of my sushi. I was bothered by the fact that for any sushi all-you-can-eat customers you had to eat all of your sushi. Meaning, for every piece of sushi that remained on your plate you would be charged one dollar per piece. I did not agree with that nor did I accept that. Thankfully my waitress was nice enough to waive the fee. I felt like a child being told that I needed to be sure that I cleaned off my plate. As a paying customer it should make no difference to you if I eat all of my sushi or I do not. You are receiving money for the sushi either way. I did not eat anything else during my visit. I don't think I will come back simply because of that rule and the fact that I would feel as though I am being watched and judged for not eating all of my sushi.

Five stars for their sushi! I just got back from Japan and am a bit snobby, loved their rolls! Chinese was good too, had that at lunch.

I hate being negative however there were either fruit flies or knats continuously bothering me my entire meal. I ordered all u can eat sushi and found out there are rules which is understandable. I am new to sushi but have eaten it several times in the last few months. Everything tasted fine and arrived way quicker than I expected. Service could have been better. I wasn't asked how do I like it a single time and being a server myself, I make sure everyone enjoys everything and is happy. The place was full of Air Force guys which I find is a good sign because around here, they seem to find all of the good values. All in all, I may be back to try them a second time and I was satisfied for what I received and paid for .

We are staying in Ft Walton Beach for the week and unfamiliar with the area, so delivery was a great option. Food was awesome, delivery was fast, prices were very reasonable. There was NO delivery charge for orders over $10, and they put some free spring rolls in with our order. Absolutely would get take out delivered from them again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
